Singapore is one of the top medical tourism destinations in the world. With comparatively low health care costs, modern medical systems, and highly educated physicians, Singapore's private hospitals offer outstanding medical services.
In 2000 Singapore was ranked 6th by the Worldwide Health Organization's ranking of healthcare systems, and the consistent city-state remained hold that position in the 2012 top 10 list. In 2018's Bloomberg healthcare efficiency scoring, Singapore ranked 2nd, behind only Hong Kong. Medical tourist patients in Singapore are attracted by quality medicine and healthcare in the convenience of an English-speaking, clean surroundings.
Singapore has set up International Patient Service Centres (IPSCs) that work like ‘medical travel agencies'. IPSCs are designed specifically for medical tourists and expatriate patients, and are attached to hospitals to provide relevant information and assistance for global patients. IPSCs provide hospital costs to patients, and coordinate appointments with healthcare specialists.
With all this medical infrastructure it is not surprising that Singapore has emerged as a great destination for cosmetic surgery. Many of the surgeons are trained in Seoul so have particular skills with eyelid procedures that crop up with women of Asian ethnicity. They also have a fine reputation for rhinoplasty and also for a wide range of surgical and quasi-surgical procedures.
