The number of European citizens seeking cosmetic surgery in Prague has grown dramatically. This has led to an increase in demand for cosmetic surgery procedures and the emergence of a medical tourism industry that is worth billions of dollars in the EU alone.
The need to lose weight has been proven time and time again. No matter what, people want to look slimmer and better. People spend huge sums of money on cosmetic procedures, knowing that they'll be in good shape as soon as the procedure is complete.
Another reason that medical tourism is on the rise is that many people looking for cosmetic procedures can have those procedures done while they visit a country they've never seen before. They get the procedure at a greatly reduced cost and get to immerse themselves in a new culture, see amazing sights and eat delicious local food and drink.
That being said, Prague has become one of the leading cities for medical tourism and aesthetic procedures for both of these factors, cost and sightseeing, and with good reason. We'll take a look at these reasons in this short article, Why Prague is a Great Destination for Medical Tourism. In this article, we will help you get the best personal experience from your medical travel. Enjoy!
Prague is Simply Beautiful

Cosmetic Surgery in Prague.
Prague Has A Healthcare System that Equals Any City in Europe Safety is always an issue when seeking any type of cosmetic medical procedure. To that end, Prague has worked tirelessly to meet and exceed the standards of western medicine. With a better infant mortality rate than both the UK and the US, universal healthcare and better outcomes than EU averages, you can put your safety concerns aside when looking for medical tourism options in Prague.
There's Practically No Language Barrier in Prague Although they might not agree in France, English has become the language of business in the EU and, in Prague, you can speak it in practically every medical clinic. German, Russian and of course Czech are also spoken in many clinics, making the language barrier disappear when you go there for a procedure. After all, Prague is very welcoming for foreign patients.
What Medical Procedures are Most Popular in Prague?
If you're searching for a medical clinic that provides cosmetic surgery, dental procedures, stem cell therapy and more, Prague is a great destination. The clinics are, as mentioned before, as good or better than western standards for cleanliness and hygiene, and the medical specialists are some of the most highly trained in the EU. Some of the procedures that they offer include;
- Anti Aging
- Dental
- Fertility treatments
- Wellness
- Stem Cell Therapy
- Bariatric surgery for weight loss
- Plastic / cosmetic surgery
- Eye surgery
- Holistic medicine
- Skincare
Visa Requirements for Visiting the Czech Republic and Prague

As a member of the Schengen Area since 2007, the Czech Republic allows unrestricted access from 26 European countries. Furthermore, there are no Visa requirements for citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea and the U.S, and they allow nationals from those countries to stay up to 90 days as a tourist, which is more than enough time for any type of medical procedure you might need.

A reader gives her opinion on Prague as a cosmetic surgery tourist…
*I've been living in London for the past five months and recently got some facelift surgery in Prague, the Czech Republic.
I've always wanted to visit Europe, so I took the opportunity when I was offered a job at my current company. It's been a wild ride, but I'd love to share some of the details of my adventure.
Step 1: Choose Your Destination
I chose Prague because it's close to Germany and Austria. It's also an easy flight from London, and some of my friends live there. It's also relatively inexpensive compared to other European destinations.
Step 2: Find Accommodations
Since I'm only here for a month, I didn't want to spend too much money. I found a place that's reasonably priced in the city center. It's within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and public transportation.
Step 3: Explore the City
When I arrived in Prague, the first thing I did was head straight to the Old Town Square. I was amazed by its size. Even after living in the United States for so long, I'm still surprised by how large cities are in Europe.
The next day I spent some time exploring the city. I visited Prague Castle and climbed the Astronomical Clock. There were also lots of historic buildings nearby.
Step 4: Explore the Countryside
After two weeks of living in the city, I decided it was time to explore the countryside. My host suggested a trip to the Chateau Duchovny.
We had a great time at the chateau. It's a castle and museum dedicated to the history of Bohemia and Moravia. We even got to see the original chandelier from the original Prague Castle.
Step 5: Take a Vacation
I also visited Prague's Charles Bridge. This was the first time I saw a bridge like this. I wish I could have spent more time there.
Step 6: Visit Some Local Markets
One of the main reasons I chose Prague is that it's a great city for shopping. There are lots of markets where you can find some really unique items.
There are lots of markets in Prague. One of the most popular is the Na Prikope. The name means “under the bridges” and refers to the location. There are lots of vendors selling all sorts of things including food, clothing, electronics, and more.
The next day I went to the Prague Flea Market. This market is a little different. Instead of being under the bridges, it's set up in a park. It's mostly stalls selling used furniture and clothes.
Step 7: See the Prague Zoo
The zoo is in the centre of Prague. It's home to lots of animals including pandas, lions, and bears. The zoo also has a small zoo train.
Step 8: Enjoy the Nightlife
After a few days of exploring, I finally had some free time. I headed to the Prague Beer Museum.
This museum is located in the oldest brewery in the city. The tours take you through the entire process of making beer.
I also went to a club called Triton. The party scene in Prague is pretty active. I didn't go because I was already planning on going out.
For me, the main attraction of Prague as a medical tourism destination is its affordability. Prices are much lower than in other major European cities. The prices are comparable to US cities like New York.
Prague has a reputation for being safe, clean and pleasant. This is mostly because of its well-maintained infrastructure and its friendly people.
